The Mandalorian Season 3: Release Date And Plot For Disney+ Series

The Mandalorian 3 season is already in production. Here’s everything we know about the Star Wars spin-off series created by Jon Favreau starring Pedro Pascal, and Baby Yoda, aka Grog.

The Mandalorian 3 Season Release

Jon Favreau confirmed that the series was already in pre-production in December 2021 and that filming will begin in 2021, after the spin-off The Book of Boba Fett has concluded. The release date of The Mandalorian 3 is not yet known, but should also be previewed at Christmas 2021.

Collider reports that despite the shooting of The Book of Boba Fett being completed in June 2021, the first take of The Mandalorian 3 will not take place for a few months. The reason comes from the fact that Pedro Pascal, the lead actor, will first be engaged on the set of the live-action adaptation of The Last of Us, where he plays Joel. It, therefore, appears that the filming of Mandalorian will only begin in late 2021 or early 2022. Therefore, season 3 will not debut until the end of 2022.

The Mandalorian 3 Season Plot

With the season finale of The Mandalorian 2, released on December 18 on Disney +, we can begin to outline the plot of the next season. Having no advances for the moment, it is only possible to rely on the events of the 2 × 08 episode, The Rescue.

In this episode, Mando, Fennec, Bo Katan, and Cara Dune manage to attack Moff Gideon’s Imperial cruiser, where he holds Grogu. A great threat, the dark knights, or assassin droids, resides on the ship, and the protagonists manage to get rid of it with a ruse. Mando is left alone and manages to find Grogu, threatened by the dark sword of Moff Gideon, with whom he then clashes. The Mandalorian has better on the imperial, and frees Grogu, also taking possession of the sword.

Once on the bridge, where the others are waiting for him, Bo Katan notices the sword in Mando’s hand and is shocked. This is an object that belongs to Mandalore, the planet from which both she and the protagonist come. Whoever has the sword in his possession is the legitimate heir to the throne of Mandalore Bo Katan wanted to take possession of this, as in the past. Mando would gladly give it to him, were it not that possession passes from person to person only after a defeat in combat. This story will surely continue into The Mandalorian season 3, as the sword discussion is cut short. The dark knights are returning aboard.

But miraculously, an X-wing of the Republic appears on the radar and comes aboard. A hooded Jedi descends from the ship, which Grogu immediately perceives. His lightsaber is green. The Jedi destroys all the Dark Knights and heads to the bridge. This is Luke Skywalker, who has come to take Grogu to begin his training.

After a heartbreaking goodbye with Mando, who takes off his helmet to show his face to the little one, Luke, along with R2-D2, takes the little one and leaves.

Now, it is not clear if in the next season Grogu will be seen infrequently or only in one episode, also because Luke Skywalker was made with the techniques of CGI, rejuvenating the face of Mark Hamill. It is not possible to think that this character will be present that much in the next season. But we’ll see, waiting for new sneak peeks on The Mandalorian season 3.
