Spring 2020 came with a big shock for the fans of SWAT. The third season of the show was cut off and ended early due to the Coronavirus pandemic. Since then, the fans have been waiting for the fourth instalment of CBS’s crime-drama series. The network has decided to dedicate more space to crime with Shemar Moore, as reported by TVLine. The ratings of season 3 had dropped slightly compared to the previous one, but not enough to lead the network to make a drastic choice.
While the return of SWAT was assured, there were no particular anticipations on season 4 before the debut. However, showrunner Shawn Ryan had communicated to TVLine the intention to include as one of the first episodes of the new chapter what should have been the season 3 finale, which they had not been able to shoot. It is indeed essential to an hour, as he recalled the revolt of Los Angeles ( Los Angeles Riots ).
The same airing was initially scheduled for April 29, 2020, the day of the 28th anniversary. The episode takes place on a double timeline: the present and 1992, right in the days of the racially motivated riots, when Hondo was just a teenager.
It will probably become our premiere or at least one of the first episodes of the fourth season. In any case, we will shoot this episode because it is unique; it looks at the revolt from the perspective of a young Hondo.
SWAT Season 4 Release Date
When does the TV series with Shemar Moore come out? The release date of the SWAT Season 4 was scheduled for ‘November 11, but in the previous slot to what has always worked. With the announcement of CBS’s fall schedule, it was clear that the crime drama would be back on TV in early 2021, but in July, things changed. The network ultimately chose to schedule the debut for the fall, ousting Survivor in the mid-season.
The leading actor had also announced on Facebook that if no further halts had taken place, season 4 would have started in the first week of August. And so it was, as executive producer Aaron Rashaan Thomas confirmed on Twitter.
