Fans have been waiting to find out if Houseki no Kuni Season 2 will appear on screen. Well, from the looks of it, the return of this fantasy anime series is very likely. Here is everything you need to know.
Setting the premise
Houseki no Kuni, also known as the place of brilliance, debuted on screen in October 2017 and later became one of the studio’s best works. This animation has been greatly appreciated by fans and critics. The story of the play is adapted from a masterpiece, with manga illustrated by Haruko Ichikawa. With the distant future as the background, this series focuses on crystal creatures called gems, which have already occupied the world.
The earth was destroyed by meteorites more than six times, completely changing the life and matter around it. After a while, a new race emerged from the ground. These new species are immortal, genderless, lover-shaped gems, the weakest being the protagonist Phos, who was expelled by her companions.
Despite this, Phosphorite still hopes to enter the battlefield, get praise and recognition from peers, and finally prove itself. But before she can do this, she needs to overcome the barriers to compiling an encyclopedia, because it her being fragile. Despite hesitating at first, Phosphorite decided to give it a try. This is where she met cinnabar.
Cinnabar is a kind of intelligence crystal, the task is to take care of a lonely island at night. When Phos realized that Cinnabar hated his job as much as she did, Phos decided to help Cinnabar and find a more suitable job for them together. At the same time, other powerful “jewel folks” are launching a battle with lunarios (moon people) trying to take advantage of the luxury value of jewelry.
So, second season?
In the past few years, fans have been asking about the return of their favorite anime. Therefore, it is time to find some answers from its creator. Studio Orange and series director Takahiko Kyōgoku declined to answer questions about the renewal of Houseki no Kuni season 2. Although other shows produced by the studio have had sequels, why has the “Kingdom of Light” stagnated? One of the main reasons for the delay is the lack of source material. The Houseki no Kuni manga series is still running, and ten volumes have been published as of today. The latest volume 10 was released in August 2019. According to the timetable, volume 11 should now be reached. However, due to the coronavirus pandemic, it may have been delayed.
The first season of the animation adapted the first five volumes of the Land Of The Lustrous manga. Therefore, the second season of “Houseki no Kuni” is expected to continue from Chapter 37 of Volume 5 to the next five volumes. Fortunately, with the release of Volume 10, Orange Studio finally has enough content to make a sequel.
Also, seeing the popularity of animation, the studio doesn’t want to miss out on season two earnings. The acclaimed show doubled comic book sales. After so many years, the second season of “Houseki no Kuni” may do the same for the next manga volume. In fact, according to previous reports, the crew director Takahiko Kyogoku has a positive attitude towards the performance of the new season. Therefore, an official update may come soon.
