What Happened to O.J. Simpson and Nicole Brown Simpson’s Children?
Sydney and Justin Simpson were eight and five years old when their mother Nicole Brown Simpson was brutally slain at her home on June 12, 1994, with her friend Ron Goldman.
In the aftermath of that tragic night a quarter-century ago, the Simpson children were not only forced to deal with the fact that they would never see their mother again, but they were also forced to watch as their father, retired NFL superstar O.J. Simpson, was accused of the heinous murders and ultimately acquitted in what became known as the “trial of the century” due to the media frenzy it created.
While their father and his “Dream Team” of defense attorneys, which included Johnnie Cochran and Robert Kardashian, fought and won against the State of California’s case against O.J., as argued by Marcia Clark and Christopher Darden, family members worked tirelessly to shield both Sydney and Justin from public scrutiny, attempting to protect whatever innocence they had left.
While O.J. was battling the Goldman family in a civil lawsuit, a jury unanimously found him liable for the wrongful death and battery against Ron, as well as battery against Nicole, the children were kept out of the spotlight, living a life of custody split between their father and their mother’s family.
“My mother and I were like Team Brown after the tryouts were completed. We established a meeting place where we transported the children, picked them up, and dropped them off “Tanya Brown, Nicole’s sister, told to a surce in 2014.
“Because of the children, we were in daily communication with him… He will always be with Sydney and Justin, and he will be in some way connected to my family for the rest of his life.” His children had grown into adults by the time he was released, each with their own occupations and lives.
Sydney went on to Boston University, where she earned a BA in Sociology from the College of Arts and Sciences in May 2010. She spent some time in Atlanta after graduating before relocating to St. Petersburg, Fla., where she acquired a property in August of 2015. She is currently 33 years old and runs her own company, Simpsy LLC, which handles the three properties she owns in the neighbourhood.
In 2017, the New York Post reported that Sydney was dating St. Petersburg City Council candidate Robert Blackmon, who described Sydney as a “very quiet person” who had been “selflessly supporting me and not worried about herself.”
He continued, “I probably shouldn’t be talking about the Simpsons unless they give me permission. The Simpsons are a wonderful family. They’ve been wonderful friends to me.”
Death of Nicole Brown Simpson
At the time of her passing, Brown resided with her two children at 875 South Bundy Drive in Brentwood, Los Angeles, California. On the evening of Sunday, June 12, 1994, Brown, age 35, and restaurant waiter Ron Goldman, age 25, was stabbed to death outside of their residence.
On June 13, her body was discovered shortly after midnight. She was in the fetal position, surrounded by a puddle of blood. An autopsy revealed that Brown had been stabbed seven times in the neck and scalp and received a 14-centimeter-long (5.5-inch) cut across her throat, which severed both of her carotid arteries and punctured both of her jugular veins.
The cut on Brown’s neck entered her cervical vertebrae by 1.9 cm (0.75 inches), nearly decapitating her. Her hands also bore defensive wounds.
Simpson and their two children, relatives of Brown’s family, Al Cowlings, house visitor Kato Kaelin, and Steve Garvey attended Brown’s funeral on June 16 at the St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church in Brentwood, California. Brown is interred in Lake Forest, California’s Ascension Cemetery.
Glen Rogers, who is currently incarcerated for serial murder, confessed to his family and select investigators that he was responsible for these killings. Prior to the murders, he allegedly told his family that he was going to kill her. To date, there have been no charges.
Why did Sydney and Justin Simpson Have Decided to Stay Out of the Public Eye?
Since Nicole Brown Simpson was killed, a lot of people have been interested in hearing about her children, Sydney and Justin. Both of them were kept out of the spotlight as they were growing up, and they’ve kept doing that for the rest of their lives.
After the tumultuous murder trial, Sydney and Justin moved to Florida with O.J., according to E!. And the big move let them keep their identities secret.
Sydney, now 35, is said to have gotten a B.A. in sociology from Boston University and spent a short time in Atlanta, Ga., before settling down in St. Petersburg, Fla. The news source says she bought a house there and now owns and runs the property management company Simpsy LLC.
Justin, who is 33, moved to St. Petersburg, Florida, just like his older sister. As an agent for DHM Real Estate Group, he also works in real estate. Even though Sydney isn’t on social media, Justin has a Twitter account that is currently active and only talks about his businesses.
