Best Apple Tv Plus Shows and Films to Watch Immediately!

When discussing the best shows and movies on Apple TV Plus, a common topic arises. Some people believe that Apple TV Plus’s third season of Coach Theodore “Ted” Lasso is the only thing to look forward to.

However, a strong showing from Apple TV Plus’ Spring 2022 lineup suggests that not only is it the best new show on Apple TV Plus — but it ended so spectacularly that you should binge it right now.

Apple TV has slowly built a worthy library in the years since its 2019 launch, especially given its low price ($4.99 per month). This includes CODA, which won the best picture at the 2022 Academy Awards. And if you enjoy that film, we’ve compiled a list of the best Apple TV Plus movies and shows to watch after CODA.

This list includes excellent shows in their third seasons, excellent sitcoms, fantastic films, and some pleasant surprises. Music documentaries appear to be one of Apple TV Plus’ key strengths.

While Apple TV Plus does not yet have a spot on our list of the best streaming services, more shows and movies like these could push it there. Pachinko is the most exciting new Apple TV Plus show, and while it has a 98 percent on Rotten Tomatoes, we’re watching it to see how good it gets.

Shining Girls

In Shining Girls, Elizabeth Moss plays Kirby Mizrachi.

Apple drew us in with Elizabeth Moss, who stars in the time-traveling crime mystery series Shining Girls, based on Lauren Beukes’ novel. Moss plays newspaper researcher Kirby Mizrachi in this series, who was the victim of a horrific attack that left her with severe mental trauma. Details about her life, including where she lives, change without warning.

However, as similar victims emerge and Kirby’s cold case appears to warm, it appears that she may get some answers. But she’ll have to work on the case herself to figure it all out. Kirby begins to uncover clues, despite the fact that her assailant (Jamie Bell) appears to be one step ahead of everyone.

The series’ perplexing conceit may be perplexing, but Moss elevates Shining Girls to the ranks of the best Apple TV Plus shows. But we’re interested to see how it ends. Casey, Henry T.

The Serpent of Essex

The Essex Serpent stars Claire Danes and Tom Hiddleston.

Cora Seaborne (Claire Danes), a London widower finally pursuing her own interests, finds herself in a very perilous situation when she goes to investigate a local legend of a serpent abducting townspeople in Essex. And, despite her desire to bring a scientific approach to her search, the townspeople appear to distrust her as an outsider right away.

There, she meets Will Ransome (Tom Hiddleston), the local vicar with whom she initially bonds. But, as the people of Essex begin to blame Cora, her new friend doesn’t appear to be able to assist her. The Essex Serpent is a new limited series, but its strong first episodes have us excited to recommend it.

The Following Party

The Afterparty stars Ben Schwartz as Jasper and Sam Richardson as Aniq.

High school reunions should not have any more drama than old crushes that may be rekindled or long-established rivalries that may resurface. The Afterparty, on the other hand, is centered on the most unlikely high school reunion, one that turns into a crime scene after someone is mysteriously killed.

And on top of that? This mystery is also a comedy. We won’t say who dies, but the show has a murder’s row of comedic greats — Tiffany Haddish, Sam Richardson, Ben Schwartz, Ilana Glazer, Ike Barinholtz, and Dave Franco, to name a few. Someone had to die.

Even better, the format of The Afterparty makes it ideal for binge-watching. As each main suspect is interrogated, they tell their own awkward reunion story, and the show takes on the form of their worldview. One episode is a romantic comedy, while another is an action film.

One episode is a cartoon adventure, while another is a thriller. The Afterparty has been renewed for a second season on Apple TV Plus. While it appears that the cast will be mostly different between seasons, it has been confirmed that Tiffany Haddish will not be the only returning cast member next year. Casey, Henry T.

Severance

Mark Scout, played by Adam Scott in Severance, at his desk.

Nothing in our personal daily lives is more frustrating and relatable these days than a poor work/life balance. Some of us take our workplace frustrations home with us every night, while others can’t stop working. “But what if there was another way?” Severance wonders. No, not by finding a healthy balance or going to therapy.

However, by severing the nerves that connect your work and non-work memories in your brain. That mind-boggling premise is at the heart of Severance, which you should binge-watch right now.

Because Adam Scott is perfectly awkward for the role of Mark Scout, Severance works so well. Mark is one of many worker-bees at Lumon, a company that performs severance on its employees, forcing them to live two lives.

Your “innie” only works and lives the rest of their life, whereas your “outie” knows nothing about their day job and lives the rest of their life. Severance, a less satirical and more horrifying spin on Black Mirror, has surpassed Ted Lasso as Apple TV’s most popular show.

The Severance finale, on the other hand, was one of the most thrilling TV episodes in recent memory. We were almost screaming at our TVs as revelation after the revelation was revealed, and the incredible performances of supporting cast members Zach Cherry and Britt Lower added to the intensity.

Season 2 of Severance cannot come soon enough. Can’t we just have our own “severance” that allows us to skip ahead to the next episode? Casey, Henry T.

Schmigadoon!

In Schmigadoon, Cecily Strong and Keegan-Michael Key!

Fans of Broadway musicals, particularly mid-century musicals, should plan a trip to Schmigadoon!, Apple TV Plus’ attempt at a show where everyone is prone to singing. Keegan-Michael Key and Cecily Strong star as a hiking couple who stumble into the mythical village of Schmigadoon and discover that anything from a lover’s spat to a bowl of corn pudding can set off a big Broadway production number.

They also discover that they will be unable to leave Schmigadoon until they have found true love. It’s difficult to say which discovery is more frightening.

The supporting cast of Schmigadoon includes Broadway heavyweights such as Kristin Chenoweth, Ariana DeBose, and Aaron Tveit, among others. And all the references, from Carousel to The Music Man to Oklahoma!, fly thick and fast. Even those who dislike musicals will be swayed by Schmigadoon’s charms because the songs are quite catchy. — Michaels, Philip

Ted Lasso

Ted Lasso stars Brendan Hunt, Jason Sudeikis, and Brett Goldstein.

Ted Lasso is an Apple TV show that needs no introduction. The story of the titular American college football coach who finds himself in over his head coaching the other football (call it soccer if you must) in the United Kingdom is likely the most-loved, if not the most-talked-about, Apple TV Plus series. It’s easy to see why Ted Lasso quickly developed a devoted following.

Ted Lasso’s brand of wholesomeness (from the character and the show) was a winning strategy when he arrived during the Covid-19 pandemic. Lasso’s upbeat energy as a coach of a losing team completely upended the toxic masculinity that was always on the verge of tearing AFC Richmond apart.

And the show’s upbeat energy helped it stand out in a sea of depressing prestige television (which we still love). While season 2 wasn’t always a hit with the audience, the second half ended well enough to get us excited for Ted Lasso’s season 3.

In that vein, do you want a refresher on what’s next for Coach Lasso? Check out our top five Ted Lasso season 3 questions. Casey, Henry T.
