Maxwell dated Epstein for a few years in the early 1990s, and they stayed close friends for more than 25 years until Epstein’s death in 2019.

It’s still not clear what their relationship is like. Several of Epstein’s household workers said in a deposition in 2009 that Epstein called her his “main girlfriend” and that she hired, fired, and supervised his staff beginning around 1992.

She has also been called the “Lady of the House” and his “aggressive assistant” by Epstein’s staff. In 2003, Vicky Ward wrote a profile of Epstein for Vanity Fair. In it, she said that Epstein called Maxwell “my best friend.” Ward also said that Maxwell seemed to “keep a lot of his life in order.”

Politico said that Maxwell and Epstein were friends with a number of important people in politics, academia, business, and law, such as former Presidents Donald Trump and Bill Clinton, lawyer Alan Dershowitz, and Prince Andrew, Duke of York.

Maxwell is known for being friends with Prince Andrew for a long time and for taking him to a “hookers and pimps” party in New York. She put Epstein in touch with Prince Andrew, and the three of them got together a lot. In 2000, Maxwell and Epstein went to a party at the Queen’s estate in Norfolk, England, called Sandringham House.
