Mikaben, a Haitian Musician, Died at the Age of 41 After Collapsing After a Performance in Paris!

Michael Benjamin, also known as “Mikaben,” a Haitian singer, died after falling during a concert in Paris over the weekend. The musician was 41 years old.

Mikaben had just finished performing with his band CaRiMi when he walked to the rear of the stage. Haiti’s Prime Minister, Ariel Henry, confirmed Mikaben’s death on Twitter on Saturday.

“I am heartbroken to learn of the untimely passing of the young and highly gifted artist Michael Benjamin ‘Mikaben,’ a great reference of Haitian music who has just died away,” he wrote.

The Accor Arena, where Mikaben was performing, also confirmed the awful news on Twitter on Sunday.

“Last night during the Carimi concert, one of the vocalists, Michael Benjamin, Mikaben of his artist name, died following a malaise on stage and despite the involvement of emergency personnel,” according to the French report.

Following Mikaben’s collapse, singer Mickael Guirand, according to the Miami Herald, requested everyone at the venue to leave.

“The concert is over, and we need to get out of here,” Guirand added.

“It’s quite complicated,” he added, according to the source. “We need to pray for Mikaben.”

Concertgoers fainted in the room, according to the site.

Following Mikaben’s death, Wyclef Jean sent a statement to the media.

“This is a surprise,” remarked the three-time Grammy winner. “All I could think of was his smile,” Jean went on. “This is one of our generation’s most important and motivating young artists.”

“I’m in shock,” CaRiMi’s Roberto Martino told the Herald. “This is someone I worked with for years and considered a brother, a wonderful friend; we chatted virtually every day; we talk together.”

Martino informed the newspaper that he had lunch with Mikaben before the concert and that he was in excellent spirits.

“He was so excited. He couldn’t wait to get on that stage with CaRiMi. It was one of his greatest achievements in life. It’s a band he idolized. I’m speechless. I’m crushed,” Martino said.

“Mika was one of the most talented painters I had ever met,” he continued. “He was one of the most humble individuals; you never heard him get furious or curse at anyone; it’s just sad; unreal.”

Vanessa Benjamin, Mikaben’s wife, took to Instagram to thank fans for their prayers but requested loved ones to “please stop phoning.”

“I’m in no condition to chat,” wrote Benjamin, who is expecting their third kid. “I lost my other half and I’m at a loss for words.”

She captioned a video of the couple dancing, “My beautiful love, How did God manage to be without you for 41years????”

Mikaben’s wife and two children survive him.
