Why “The Masked Singer” Isn’t on Tonight and When It Will Be Back on TV?

A delay in an MLB playoff game has made it hard to tell when the reality show will start.

Fans of The Masked Singer have had to wait a week to see a new group of three celebrities who are dressed up take the stage. So it’s not surprising that they were confused when they turned on FOX at the usual time, 8 p.m. ET, and saw baseball uniforms instead of a big ear of corn or a dressed-up mermaid.

That’s because tonight wasn’t the night that this week’s episode of The Masked Singer aired. Because a playoff game between the Philadelphia Phillies and the Atlanta Braves got off to a late start, the episode wasn’t shown until after the game. The second game of the NLDS match was supposed to start at 4:35 p.m. But because of bad weather in Atlanta, the start time was pushed back.

After a few hours, things finally got going. All of FOX’s primetime shows, including The Masked Singer, had to be moved because of this. At first, the show’s social media accounts said that it would “be on soon” after the game, which was after the show was supposed to air. Later, though, the show deleted the tweet and just said, “See you next week.”

This has never happened before on a reality show that won an Emmy. Even though the show has taken a break for a few weeks during the World Series in the past, it has never just stopped airing episodes. Even more confusing was the fact that the show didn’t say when the episode would be available to watch.

From what we can tell, the episode aired as usual in Canada, but it didn’t air in the United States. Fox has now told that the episode is being saved and will be shown next Wednesday night at its regular time. Tomorrow, you won’t be able to watch tonight’s episode on Hulu or FOX NOW.

The good news is that the episode will still be on TV, and we might get an extra week of Masked Singer or two episodes back-to-back later in the season. But with the baseball playoffs coming up this month and the delays that come with them, we may not be out of the woods yet when it comes to the Masked Singer schedule.
