The Multiverse of Madness is available for free online and can be viewed by anyone. After nearly $950 million at the box office since its May release, Doctor Strange 2 will be available to stream on Disney+ beginning June 22.
The Doctor Strange
Following the events of Avengers: Endgame and Spider-Man: No Way Home, the Scarlet Witch, aka Wanda Maximoff (Elizabeth Olsen), threatens the realities of Earth-616, Earth-838, and the entire Multiverse, prompting Sorcerer Supreme Stephen Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) to seek assistance from his ally, Sorcerer Supreme Wong (Benedict Wong).
The Marvel Studios Original Series WandaVision and the 2016 film Doctor Strange are both followed up by Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness (2021).
Starting on June 22nd, if you have a Disney+ subscription, you can watch all three of these movies. (New subscribers can expect to pay $7.99 per month or $79.99 per year; an ad-supported tier at a discounted price will debut later in 2022).
Disney+ is the only place where you can watch Doctor Strange 2, as it has been removed from other streaming services like Netflix, Amazon Prime, and Hulu. Over a dozen other MCU films are already available on Disney+ in IMAX Enhanced, with the same 1.90:1 aspect ratio used by IMAX.
Officially described by Disney+(Instagram) as follows: “With Doctor Strange: Journey to the Multiverse, Marvel Studios and the MCU unlock and expand the Multiverse to new heights.
Join Doctor Strange as he travels through the twisting and perilous alternate realities of the Multiverse in search of a mysterious new adversary, aided by his old and new mystical allies.”

In Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, directed by Sam Raimi, Benedict Cumberbatch plays Stephen Strange, Elizabeth Olsen plays Wanda Maximoff/Scarlet Witch, Benedict Wong plays Sorcerer Supreme Wong, Chiwetel Ejiofor plays Karl Mordo, Xochitl Gomez plays America Chavez, and Charlize Theron plays Clea. You can start watching right now on Disney+.
Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch), who has been a part of the MCU since 2016, has played an increasingly significant role in recent films. For his most recent solo film, Cumberbatch led the way in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, which introduced audiences to new dimensions and gave the good Doctor fantastic new abilities to use in his future adventures.
Doctor Strange 2 made an impact financially, becoming the second highest-grossing movie of Phase 4 behind Spider-Man: No Way Home, despite losing some of its momentum heading into its later run at the box office. Strange will continue to be in the spotlight for the foreseeable future as it still has a few weeks to add to its run and potentially inch closer to $1 billion globally.
All of this happens before the release of Doctor Strange 2 on Disney+, which will join four other live-action movies starring Cumberbatch (with the exception of Sony’s Spider-Man threequels).
In preparation for this momentous occasion, the streaming service is paying tribute to the master illusionist by compiling his entire six-year run in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) in one convenient location.
The Disney+ Collection for Doctor Strange
Disney+’s Marvel section now features a curated collection of Doctor Strange episodes and films.
Included in this set are promotional images from nearly all of Doctor Strange’s Marvel Cinematic Universe appearances, including those from the most recent film, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, which was released earlier this year. On June 22, that sequel will be available on demand.
Five other Marvel Cinematic Universe films with Strange in a starring role are listed below in Doctor Strange 2 in the “coming soon” section. Thor: Ragnarok, the last two Avengers films, and even Doctor Strange in the animated Disney+ series What If…? from last year all feature Strange in some capacity.
