In November 2020, it was announced that Carson would play the female lead in the upcoming film Purple Hearts. According to the statement, she would also serve as an executive producer and compose and perform the original songs for the soundtrack. In the same month, it was announced that Charles Melton had been cast as the male lead, but just before filming began in August 2021, it was rumored that Galitzine would assume the part.
