Hungama 2: Is The Upcoming Comedy Movie Worth Watching?

One of the most well known and reputed directors of the Bollywood industry Priyadarshan is all set for his new release Hungama 2. With an impeccable record of having directed over 90 good films in three different languages, he has made a mark in the industry. Chup chup ke, Bhool Bhulaiya, Dhol, Hungama to name a few have remained to be those kinds of movies that you never get bored of watching. He is the man behind the screen who has made the creation of such movies possible. He has directed films of different genres but comedy remains to be that one genre that he masters. He is all set to make a comeback in the industry with the release of the sequel of his movie ‘Hungama’.

Hungama 2 is not only the sequel of that movie but also the remake of another directorial film of Priyadarshan, ‘Minnaram’. Minnaram is a Malayalam film that was released around 27 years ago in 1994. It is said to be the sequel of the movie Poochakkoru Mookkuthi in malayalam. However, the plot of both the aforementioned movies are quite different. This movie was also directed by Priyadarshan and was written by Cheriyan Kalpakavadi.

Storyline Of The Movie

The movie Hungama 2 was released on 23 July 2021. The movie saw a digital release on Disney Hotstar in view of the Covid-19 pandemic. The plot revolves around ‘The man’ named Colonel Kapoor of the family. Ashutosh Rana plays this role. He is shown as a busy man who has temper issues and often lashes out at his son Akash. The role of the son is played by Meezan. His son is all set to get married to his friend’s daughter but he later finds out that Vaani (another character in the movie played by Pranitha) claims to be the mother of his baby. On the contrary, Paresh Rawal plays the role of RadheyShyam Tiwari who is very insecure about his wife and has a suspicious eye on her. The role of his wife is played by Shilpa Shetty. She happens to be his young and pretty wife which is why he is insecure about her. 

The movie is filled with unexpected twists and turns and Manoj Tiwari’s character enters the movie out of nowhere. He is the to-be-father-in-law of Aakash. To save himself, Aakash keeps Vaani out of the picture so he doesn’t get caught. On the other hand, Radheshyam sets up hidden cameras which might invite unwanted trouble in the family. 

Is The Movie Worth A Watch?

Mixed reviews came in about the movie after it’s release. Critics mostly had negative comments about the movie. The movie had a lot of hype around it considering Hungama remains to be one of the best comedy movies of it’s time. The plot of the movie was said to be pretty monotonous. The two movies do not have a correlation besides the characters being connected with each other.
