Is There Gonna Be a Zootopia Sequel?

According to one of the first film’s actors, there will not only be a Zootopia 2, but also a Zootopia 3. According to a video with Tommy “Tiny” Lister (Finnick) at a meet & greet last week (which has since been removed), he states that he will be in Zootopia 2 and that the popular franchise will have three films in total.

“I can assure you that I will be doing another Zootopia with Disney.” We’re doing three of them… We are the most important film that Disney is producing. The previous one was 240 million. This one, I’m told, will be worth $300 million. That’s how much money they spent on the budget, not on advertising.”

Zootopia 3

The revelation that Disney is working on two sequels for the franchise is exciting news, but it shouldn’t come as a surprise given that the initial film was a huge success with fans and at the box office.

Rumours regarding Zootopia 2 have been circulating since 2017, which makes sense given that the first film grossed $1 billion at the box office. Disney will not let a picture that succeeds that well go without at least a sequel. This is the first time we’ve heard that there would be three films in the franchise.

So, while Zootopia 2 (or 3) hasn’t been officially confirmed by Disney, you can speculate. This news follows the announcement last week of a Zootopia-themed land coming to Shanghai Disneyland!

“Guests will be invited to experience the mammalian metropolis of Zootopia “where anyone can be anything,” with a new major attraction that will seamlessly blend Disney storytelling and state-of-the-art technology to bring this fan-favourite movie and its characters to life – including Judy Hopps and Nick Wilde,” according to Disney.

When the Zootopia-themed park opens in Shanghai Disneyland, it will initially have only one attraction, but it is expected to be a popular E-Ticket attraction and a crowd-pleaser. In future expansions, more space will be made available for additional attractions.

They further state that attendees will be fully immersed in the Zootopia-themed experience with entertainment, merchandising, and food and beverage offers. So, given that Disney is likely to spend $500 million to $1 billion on Zootopia Land, it stands to reason that new film content will be created to support it.

It’s also not out of the question that a Zootopia Land would open in Walt Disney World at some time, as Disney doesn’t normally create new lands or attractions to only be found in one park. Don’t be surprised if we see more Zootopia in Florida with this news regarding the film!

What Is Story Going to Be About?

That’s a valid topic, and according to directors Byron Howard and Rich Moore, there’s a lot remaining to explore in the Zootopia world, and there were many ideas left out of the original film that they could revisit and expand on.

Zootopia 3

The real-life subjects that Zootoopia touches on, such as racism and police brutality, are even more pertinent in the news now and will still resonate with audiences regardless of the type of fiction they choose to weave those components into.

Then there’s Judy Hops (Ginnifer Goodwin) and Nick Wilde’s relationship (?). (Jason Bateman). They clearly had chemistry in the original Zootopia, however, they were never officially together at the end of the film. Will Judy and Nick be a couple before the end of Zootopia 2?

Directors Byron Howard and Rich Moore purposely left Hopps and Wilde’s relationship vague, despite the fact that they are aware that many fans are yearning for them to reunite in the Zootopia sequel.

They’ve admitted there’s something to their connection, but they’re not sure where they want to take it. The voice actor who plays Nick Wilde, Jason Bateman, expressed hope that the two main protagonists will be “kicking ass out there” and “cleaning up the streets” of all the bad guys.

Goodwin has stated that she would want to have their roles reversed: “You and I both know what happens at the end of the movie, and I would for them to join us on this adventure in their new roles.

” But, because they’re in different jobs, I’d want to see Nick [Wilde] be the one to persuade Judy [Hopps] that the world is worth fighting for,” Goodwin said. Fans will have to wait and see what tale they can come up with for the sequels…
