Producers XFilme have released the first official look at the opening credits sequence for the fifth and final season of Babylon Berlin. Season 4 of Berlin Strasse was shot in Studio Babelsberg as well as real locations throughout Berlin, including the Karl-Marx-Allee.
Season four of Babylon Berlin, produced by X-Filme in collaboration with ARD Degeto, Sky, WDR, and Beta Film in 2022, will air on German public broadcaster ARD in 2022.
Who Will Play Who in Babylon Berlin Season 4?
Only one new cast member will join the cast of “Babylon Berlin” for Season 4. Executive producer Mark Ivanir will join the program, Deadline reports. In addition to “Homeland,” “Transparent” and “The New Pope,” he has appeared in other television episodes and films.
We’re convinced that Ivanir, the show’s lone big addition so far, will play an important part in Season 4’s storyline; for additional information, see the section below on the plot.
There is a very good chance that Gereon and Charlotte will be played again by Volker Bruch and Liv Lisa Fries. Many of the show’s regular characters are thus expected to return. Anno, Gereon’s long-lost brother who had been assumed slain during World War I, made a surprise return in Season 3.
It was after the war that Gereon and Anno’s wife Helga Rath started an affair, which created conflict between them. Hannah Herzsprung(Facebook) and Jens Harzer(Wikipedia), who portrayed Anno and Helga, will very definitely return.
Season 4 will very probably include a return of Armenian nightclub tycoon Miel Matievi, the man in charge of Berlin’s criminal underworld. Ronald Zehrfeld, a close friend of Walter Weintraub’s, is very certainly returning to the case.
Updates on the Plot of Babylon Berlin Season 4
During the winter of 1930-1931, Babylon Berlin’s fourth season took place. Berlin under the Weimar Republic, which came into effect in 1929, will play a central role in this film.
The stock market crash of 1929 marked the end of Season 3. The disaster that would scupper the Weimar Republic’s democratic ideals. As previously stated, the fourth season takes place in 1930 and 1931.
According to X-Filme founders Stefan Arndt, Uwe Schott, and Michael Polle, “it’s the German capital acquired between the Weimar Republic and the boom of Nazi Germany.” During the winter of 1930-31 Germany slowly but surely descends into a deep hole.
Babylon Berlin’s fourth season will be distinct from the previous three because of a few tweaks.
Prior season directors Tom Tykwer, Achim von Borries, and Hendrik Handloegten have said they want to rewrite the plot.
It was time for a change, and of course, we’re quicker now, and we wanted the female opinion. Henk Handloegten added, “We hope if all goes well to shoot next year again.”
To this, he adds: “Our fourth season will be based on the third novel, Goldstein. Many plot points will be drawn from the novel, according to the show’s creators.
We will keep our readers updated as soon as an official announcement is made about a specific release date. Up until that point, we had no idea what to expect from the next season.
