Fans of ‘Snowpiercer’ are looking forward to the third season of the successful TNT and Netflix drama, with this reimagining of the Bong Joon-ho movie of the same name having dazzled viewers across the globe.
With the third season of ‘Snowpiercer’ soon upon us, we break down what you need to know in order to appreciate it as thoroughly and as early as possible.
Snowpiercer Season 3 Cast
Season 3 brings back a number of familiar characters. When the second season wraps up, it seems like Jennifer Connolly’s(Facebook) character Melanie is going to be murdered off.
Executive producer Becky Clements issued rather contradictory signals when questioned about Melanie’s fate in a recent interview with TVLine, saying: “I don’t know if she is alive” but also admitting that “we are happy that Jennifer will join us for season 3”. Her part may be reduced to flashbacks if that is the case.
Fans may also expect to see more of Daveed Diggs as Layton and Sean Bean as Mr Wilford, while season regulars Alison Wright, Rowan Blanchard, Lena Hall, Mickey Sumner, Sam Otto, Annalise Basso, and Steven Ogg are all lined up to return.
We’ll also meet a big new character, with The Fall and The Good Wife actress Archie Panjabi joining the cast as Asha – a survivor from off the train, while Clements has also confirmed that “a handful of lesser characters” would join the programme too. We’ll let you know as we obtain additional information on that front.
Jennifer Lynn Connelly is an American actress. She started her career as a child model before making her acting debut in the 1984 crime picture Once Upon a Time in America.
Snowpiercer Season 3 Storyline
Before the show debuted, executive producer Becky Clements shared a few insights about what viewers might anticipate in the next season now that the two trains have been separated.
In response to a question about whether the series would be like the chase between the two trains, Clements said: “However, there will be a limited amount of chasing. We certainly have plenty of tales going. There is survival, there is Melanie, there is a study on the train, and there is the final aim.”
Meanwhile, in a separate interview with Deadline, Clements said there would be a time leap to illustrate what the “new global order” looks like, saying that everyone will be “trying to find their position in their new universe.”
She concluded: “Having new allies and enemies is a lot of fun in season 3. It’s been fascinating to see the scene at work, introducing fresh faces to one other.”
On the subject of Josie (Katie McGuinness) and her abilities, she indicated that we would learn more about it throughout this season.
“That’s sort of our exciting, intriguing, sci-fi genre element of human enhancement,” she remarked. “Who knows how far we can and should go in this CRISPR world? You know, when we start playing with the creator, what happens? As a result, sure. A lot of intriguing things are on the way, as well.”
When the trains are reunited, Wilford will have to deal with Layton again, and Sean Bean spoke about this in an interview with the New York Times.
“Hopefully, we’ll be able to view him from a different perspective. At times, he must compromise with others, meet some of their requests, and maintain a diplomatic demeanour “beans opined
“This can give the idea that Wilford is giving up, but there’s never a clear reason for anything. That’s just how clever he is, how brilliant he is at planning. He’s a master manipulator.”
After it was discovered that the planet was growing warmer in season 2, we fully anticipate the extremely topical climate change message to be expounded upon in season 3 – particularly given Melanie presumably died trying to gather data on the shifting temperatures. With a time leap established, may it soon be warm enough for mankind to flee Wilford?
As soon as further storey details surface we’ll put them here, so keep checking back for all the latest facts. Don’t look to Bong Joon-acclaimed ho’s 2013 film for hints, though – the show has already diverged dramatically from the movie that inspired it.
When Will Snowpiercer Season 3 Be Released on TNT and Netflix?
