Lord of the rings: Where can you stream the series- July 2021 update

As of July 2021, where is the best place to watch and replay the entire Lord of the Rings trilogy? We have an up-to-date list of streaming services, and you can watch LOTR right now!

Almost 20 years have passed since the 2001 Oscar-winning The Lord of the Rings film trilogy starring Elijah Wood, Ian McLean and Liv Tyler debuted. The trilogy consists of the initially launched books and eventual movies  “The Lord of the Rings”, “Two Towers” and “Return of the king”.

It is considered a modern classic and fans around the world continue to watch the series every year. In fact, a poll published in 2019 found that “Lord of the Rings” is now more popular than “Star Wars.” Of course, if it weren’t for the Tolkien estate to do everything possible to maintain the integrity of the franchise, Disney would be happy to acquire such an attractive property. Still, “The Lord of the Rings” will launch a new show on Amazon Prime in 2021.

So where can you watch and feel “The Lord of the Rings” today? This is an overview of where you can find it!

About the series

Set in the Third Age of Middle-earth, this novel is a sequel to Tolkien’s “The Hobbit” (1937), and is replaced by his post-mortem “Silmarine” (1977). The Lord of the Rings is the legend of a bunch of heroes who come together in the quest to save the world from evil. Many of its worlds and creatures come from Tolkien’s extensive knowledge of linguistics and folklore.

33 years old Hobbit, Frodo Baggins received the Invisible Lord of the Rings from his uncle Bilbo. Frodo, a Christ-like figure, learned that this ring had the power to control the entire world, and found that it would corrupt its owner. Hobbits, elves, dwarves, and humans formed an alliance and threw the ring into the ring-forged place end-of-the-world Crack of Doom to destroy it. They are opposed by the evil Sauron and his black knight on this tragic mission.

Is it available in:

Netflix

“The Lord of the Rings” is currently available for watching not on Netflix. Will the Lord of the Rings ever possibly return to Netflix? This is highly unlikely because Netflix focuses on publishing its own original content and since the show is owned by WarnerMedia, which also owns the HBO Max streaming service, the chances become even lower.

Hulu

The entire series is available here.

Disney+

The Lord of the Rings series is not available on Disney + and the chances to be added is pretty low because Disney only streams its own content. However, you can see many original works from Disney and upcoming series, such as Obi Wan, WandaVision, The Book of Boba Fett, and Star Wars: The Bad Batch.

HBO max

All three Lord of the Rings movies are currently showing on HBO Max. This is currently the only streaming service that streams all 6 movies by subscription. It is expected to stay on the platform for a long time, because HBO’s parent company WarnerMedia owns the copyright of The Lord of the Rings.

Amazon Prime

The Lord of the Rings can be purchased on Amazon Prime, provided you pay the subscription fees. The HD version is $3.99 per movie. Each extended version is priced at $9.99.
