The Bachelorette’s seventeenth season premiered on June 7, 2021. Katie Thurston, a 30-year-old bank marketing manager from Lynnwood, Washington, starred in the season. Thurston previously placed eleventh on the twenty-fifth season of The Bachelor with Matt James. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the entire season was recorded in the Hyatt Regency Tamaya Resort & Spa in Santa Ana Pueblo, New Mexico, as was the case with the previous season.
The season concluded on August 9, 2021, with Thurston selecting Blake Moynes as the champion from the previous season. Moynes was the first male from Canada to win the competition. The breakup occurred on October 25, 2021. Thurston confirmed on November 23, 2021 that she was dating John Hersey, a contestant she ousted during week two of this season. The breakup was announced on June 20, 2022.
Production of Bachelorette Season 17
Emmanuel Acho revealed Thurston as the Bachelorette during the After the Final Rose special of The Bachelor’s 25th season on March 15, 2021, with season 18’s Michelle Young. Notable contestants include Andrew Spencer, the cousin of contestant Clay Harbor from season 14.
Filming and Development of Bachelorette Season 17
After the previous season’s premiere was pushed back to October 2020 owing to the COVID-19 epidemic, the sitcom resumed its customary summertime premiere. This season was originally scheduled to be filmed in a bio-secure bubble at the Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge in Jasper, Alberta, Canada, similar to the previous two seasons.
Due to the Canadian government’s quarantine requirements for travel to Canada, production was later halted at the area in early February 2021 due to travel limitations. Instead of filming abroad, this season was transferred to the Hyatt Regency Tamaya Resort & Spa in Santa Ana Pueblo, New Mexico.
On March 13, 2021, it was announced that former Bachelorette leads Tayshia Adams and Kaitlyn Bristowe would host this season, replacing long-time series host Chris Harrison following backlash over his support for Rachael Kirkconnell, a contestant from season 25 of The Bachelor whose photos from an Antebellum South-themed party resurfaced.
Contestants of Bachelorette Season 17
On March 18, 2021, 34 possible competitors were identified. On May 18, 2021, the final cast of 30 men was unveiled. Greg Grippo and Karl Smith were originally cast in season 16 when filming of that season was scheduled to begin in March 2020, but television productions were halted due to the pandemic.
The former was not called back for the rescheduled production in July 2020, and the latter was accepted to be brought back on that season but was not chosen in the final casting list on that month. In week 3 of the 16th season, Blake Moynes joined the cast.
Master of Paradise
For season 7 of Bachelor in Paradise, Aaron Clancy, Connor Brennan, James Bonsall, Karl Smith, Tré Cooper, and Thomas Jacobs returned. Cooper quit during Week 2. In Week 2, Smith and Brennan were eliminated. In week six, Jacobs separated with former bachelorette Becca Kufrin, however they have since reconciled. During week 6, Bonsall and Clancy ended their relationships with Anna Redman and Tia Booth, respectively.
Canada Bachelor in Paradise
Brendan Scanzano returned for Bachelor in Paradise Canada’s premiere season. In week 5, he spilled from Bachelor season 25 contestant Illeana Pennetta.

Spoilers for the Bachelorette Season 17 Finale
Given the conclusion of the ninth episode, the season 17 finale of ‘The Bachelorette’ may not feature a fantasy suite or a proposal. Blake will be dismayed by Katie’s evident commitment to Greg, and she will still be hurting from his tragic departure. Will Katie select one of the surviving men, or will Greg return? The truth won’t be disclosed until the tenth episode. Prepare your wine bottle and get ready for the season finale of ‘The Bachelorette’ season seventeen.
Who Was the Virgin on Season 17 of the Bachelorette?
For Mike Planeta (a.k.a. Mike P.), a contestant on The Bachelorette, being a virgin until marriage has enormous significance. Planeta discussed his decision to abstain on Tuesday’s episode of the Bachelor Happy Hour podcast with host Becca Kufrin and special guest Tayshia Adams.
Katie’s Journey on ‘the Bachelorette’ Concludes With a Proposal
The reign of Katie Thurston as “The Bachelorette” has ended. Katie walked away from Monday’s three-hour finale engaged to Blake Moynes. However, the path to involvement was not a straightforward one. Following her separation with erstwhile frontrunner Greg Grippo, Season 17’s leading lady was last seen trapped in the bathroom. During the penultimate episode, they exchanged a heated (and controversial) breakup, leaving her with two finalists: her now-fiancé Blake and Justin Glaze.
The series finale alternated between present-day reactions and the closing production events in New Mexico. After introductions and a summary of the season by hosts Kaitlyn Bristowe and Tayshia Adams, the audience was reunited with Katie in New Mexico, where she was crying.
The replay was followed by her reaction to her conversation with Greg in the present day. She stated that in the immediate aftermath of Greg’s irrational outburst, she struggled with her own self-worth and questioned what she had done to provoke his reaction. However, upon thought, she felt uneasy about the conversation.
