Haikyuu, the most popular sports anime, has been ruling our hearts from the time it premiered back in 2014. Seven years and four seasons have not been enough to get us enough of this volleyball-centric masterpiece. And on top of that, the last season of the show left us at a major cliffhanger and the next season and more matches have us grinding our teeth in anticipation. So, when is the next season coming to rescue us?
As of July 2021, we haven’t received any official information about the possible release of the new season. Although the chances of it releasing in this very year is very high. Haikyuu manga had already completed its course last year itself so there is only animation to catch up with it.
The haikyuu fandom hadn’t gone dormant in the time being. Official events in Japan and across the world have been constantly being conducted to keep the fans hyped up. The main stars of the show, Hinata and Kageyama have been making appearances through the times in the form of official arts and teasers by the creator, Hirauchi Furudate.
Hinata and Kageyama who?
Even if you have never seen the series and are curious about the plot, we’ve got you!
The anime follows the story of Hinata Shouyou, a middle school student, who becomes a volleyball fanatic after seeing a match at Karasuno High School. Unfortunately, his school doesn’t have a team. He gathers a riff-raff team made up of players of other sports teams to play the preliminary round. This leads to an encounter with the other lead, Kageyama Tobio, then rival and future partner. They play against each other which Hinata loses badly.
The story follows how by fate they both end up in Karasuno High School and discover they make an unstoppable duo with their talents. After that, the anime takes us on a ride of how through the matches and lessons they discover true talent and grow as a player and person.
What happened in season 4?
And we finally got to see our favorite team enter the national arena and go head to head against one of the strongest teams of the country, Inarizaki. We got introduced to more important characters that would continue playing major roles in the future.
The most anticipated match
If you are all caught up with the series you would know what is to come. Karasuno has advanced to another level and so has their destined rivals, Nekoma. We would finally get to see the ‘Battle of the garbage dump.’ Although friendships have grown through their training camps together, we cannot wait to see these two teams play their anticipated match. The rivalry that got established through their respective coaches would finally come to screen.
