Fans of Star Wars rarely have to go without good content these days. And they’re always looking forward to what’s next, whether it’s Star Wars: Obi-Wan Kenobi, The Mandalorian: Season 3, or Star Wars: Ahsoka, which are all highly anticipated Disney+ shows.

Even though there aren’t any new Star Wars movies coming out right now, there are more in the works. We’ve put together a list of all the new Star Wars TV shows and movies, from rogues to Jedi masters to bounty hunters.

Even though some are locked and others are just rumours that Disney hasn’t confirmed, one thing is for sure: passionate plans are in the works to give us a lot more Star Wars, whether it’s a story about our favourite characters or a whole new adventure in space.

Check out the rough-looking slideshow below to see what’s coming and a few “maybes” as well…Head here to find out what else is coming in 2022 in the Star Wars world, like books, games, and more. Here are the Star Wars projects that seem to be the closest to becoming a reality right now:

Star Wars: Obi-Wan Kenobi TV Series (Premieres May 27, 2022)

There have been rumours for years that Ewan McGregor would play Obi-Wan Kenobi again in a movie. Instead, McGregor’s Obi-Wan is back in a limited series on Disney+. The series takes place between Episodes III and IV and shows Obi-life Wan as a hermit on Tatooine, at least at first.

But since Hayden Christensen is also playing Darth Vader again, it looks like something will pull Obi-Wan off-planet and put him back in conflict with his former apprentice.

Deborah Chow, who worked on The Mandalorian, is directing the six-episode series. Moses Ingram, Joel Edgerton, Bonnie Piesse, Kumail Nanjiani, Indira Varma, Rupert Friend, O’Shea Jackson Jr., Sung Kang, Simone Kessell, and Benny Safdie are also in the cast of Obi-Wan Kenobi.

Star Wars: Andor TV Series (August 31, 2022)

Cassian Andor, who is played by Diego Luna, will have his own live-action Star Wars show on the Disney+ streaming service. Andor will pay attention to what Cassian did before Rogue One.

Luna, Genevieve O’Reilly (Mon Mothma), Forest Whitaker (Saw Gerrera), and Alan Tudyk (K-2SO) will play the same roles they did in Rogue One. Alistair Petrie (General Draven) might also come back.

Disney calls the series a “thrilling spy thriller,” and it will show some of the dangerous missions Andor and his allies went on in the early days of the Rebellion. Stellan Skarsgard and Kyle Soller are also in the cast.

Tony Gilroy, who worked on Rogue One, was in charge of the show, but he quit, and Toby Haynes, who worked on Black Mirror, took his place. Andor: We are also working on Season 2.

Tales of the Jedi Animated TV Series (Fall 2022)

Star Wars: Tales of the Jedi is a new animated series that will come out on Disney+ in the fall of 2022. Fans of the classic Legends timeline will probably recognise that branding since Tales of the Jedi is a name with a lot of meaning in the Star Wars mythos.

The original Dark Horse Comics series was among the first Star Wars stories to flesh out the ancient history of the Jedi Order and their war with the Sith.

Star Wars: The Bad Batch Season 2 (Fall 2022)

The newest Star Wars animated show, Clone Force 99, will be back for a second season in the fall of 2022. The show is set in the early days of the Empire when it is still trying to find its purpose.

We think that Season 2 will show us more about who Omega really is and how she is related to Emperor Palpatine’s weird cloning experiments. And a Wookiee Jedi will definitely show up this season.

The Mandalorian: Season 3 (February 2023)

After taking a year off to make room for The Book of Boba Fett, the first live-action Star Wars show will come back for a third season.

Din Djarin, played by Pedro Pascal, will be back to deal with the consequences of Season 2 and the responsibilities that come with using the Darksaber.

It follows younglings as they learn about the Force and “become Jedi: compassion, self-discipline, teamwork, patience, and friendship,” according to Lucasfilm. That sounds strange, Lucasfilm. The first episode will air in the spring of 2023 on both Disney+ and Disney Junior.

Star Wars: Visions – Volume 2 (Spring 2023)

In the spring of 2023, Star Wars: Visions will get a second “volume.” During Star Wars Celebration 2022, it was announced that the series would go on. We don’t know much about the plot or story yet, but we can expect another collection of stand-alone stories.

Volume 1 was all about anime, but this second set of episodes will have filmmakers from Japan, Chile, France, South Africa, and many other places.

Star Wars: Ahsoka TV Series (2023)

This Mandalorian spinoff show will be about Ahsoka Tano, who is played by Rosario Dawson. Since the show will take place in the same time period as The Mandalorian, it’s likely that it will focus on Ahsoka’s search for Grand Admiral Thrawn, which was hinted at in The Mandalorian.

After playing Obi-Wan Kenobi, Hayden Christensen will also play Anakin Skywalker. It’s not clear if he’ll show up as a Force Ghost or in flashback scenes, though.

Ray Stevenson plays an unknown bad guy on the show, and Liu Bordizzo plays Ahsoka’s Mandalorian friend Sabine Wren. The show is being written by Dave Filoni, and filming is set to start in April 2022.

Star Wars: Skeleton Crew (formerly “Grammar Rodeo”) TV Series (2023)

Jon Watts, who directed Spider-Man: No Way Home, is in charge of Star Wars Skeleton Crew, which was once called “Grammar Rodeo.” “The show takes place during the rebuilding after the fall of the Empire after Return of the Jedi, just like The Mandalorian,” says Vanity Fair.

“A casting notice is looking for four kids between the ages of 11 and 12,” the outlet says. “Inside Lucasfilm, the show is being called a galactic version of classic Amblin coming-of-age adventure movies from the 1980s.“At the Star Wars Celebration 2022, it was announced that Jude Law will be in the show.

Star Wars: The Acolyte TV Series (TBD)

Leslye Headland, who was in Russian Doll, is in charge of a new live-action series on Disney+ that takes place 200 years before the events of the prequels.

The series is set in the time of the High Republic. Kathleen Kennedy of Lucasfilm says that the series “will take us into a galaxy full of dark secrets and new dark side powers in the last days of the High Republic.”

Star Wars: Lando TV Series (In Development)

Lucasfilm doesn’t seem to be planning a sequel to Solo: A Star Wars Story, which came out in 2018, but Lando Calrissian is getting his own live-action show.

Little is known about the project other than that it’s being developed by Dear White People’s Justin Simien. Lando will likely be played by Donald Glover again in the show.

Taika Waititi’s Star Wars Movie (In Development)

Disney has confirmed that Taika Waititi, who directed Thor: Ragnarok, will be in charge of a live-action Star Wars movie. Waititi and Krysty Wilson-Cairns, who worked on the movie 1917, are also writing it together.

We don’t know anything else about the movie yet, like when it takes place in the Star Wars timeline or when it will come out.

Waititi said in 2021 that he has the story for his movie figured out, but the script is still in its early stages. In May 2022, Kathleen Kennedy, the head of Lucasfilm, said that this would be the next Star Wars movie.

Star Wars: Rogue Squadron (In Development)

A Star Wars movie that was supposed to come out in theatres at Christmas 2023 was given to the director of Wonder Woman, Patty Jenkins. Kathleen Kennedy said, “This story will introduce a new generation of starfighter pilots as they earn their wings and risk their lives in a boundary-pushing, high-speed thrill ride.

“Star Wars fans have loved the story of Rogue Squadron for a long time, and it will take us to a new time in the galaxy. But as of November 2021, Jenkins has taken the movie off the schedule so she can work on Wonder Woman 3.

Matthew Belloni, who works in the film industry, says that this movie is the latest in a long line of Star Wars projects that have been held back by “creative differences.” Even if these problems are fixed, Rogue Squadron probably won’t come out in 2023.

Star Wars Movies Is Coming Out in 2022

In May 2022, a story in Vanity Fair said that Rogue Squadron was “further away” from being made than the Star Wars project by Taika Waititi. After The Rise of Skywalker, Disney has set release dates for three more Star Wars movies.

The first of these was supposed to come out on December 16, 2022, from D. B. Weiss and David Benioff, the executive producers and showrunners of Game of Thrones. But Weiss/movies Benioff’s have been put on hold since then.

In any case, on July 23, 2020, Disney announced changes to its release schedule because of the ongoing pandemic. These Star Wars dates were moved to December 22, 2023, December 19, 2025, and December 17, 2027. No one knows if Star Wars movies will still be shown on those dates or not.

Don’t expect a direct sequel to Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, no matter what. Episode IX was supposed to be the last of the nine movies in the Skywalker Saga. Lucasfilm has no plans for Episode X right now, but that could change in a few years (or decades).
