Netflix’s “Castlevania,” supported the hit Konami computer game franchise, was an exceptionally popular show, currently running 94% of all seasons on Rotten Tomatoes. “Castlevania” combines plot and story elements from various video games and follows series protagonists Trevor Belmont (Richard Armitage), Sypha Belnades (Alejandra Reynoso), and Alucard (James Callis), who plan to stop a genocidal and heartbroken Dracula (Graham McTavish) to kill all human life.
The “Castlevania” series ran for four seasons and a complete of 32 episodes. because the series progresses, we see Trevor finally grappling together with his family’s legacy because of the hunter of evil. We also see Sypha begin to know and develop her magical powers as a speaker, and Alucard concludes together with his dichotomy of being a half-vampire. The show eventually kills Dracula, but an influence vacuum between her lieutenants allows Carmilla (Jaime Murray) and her council of sisters to plan an idea to gather people like cattle. Even death itself occurs.
In such a complex story, which season was the one top the entire series? This is what the fans are saying.
Which was the most popular season of Castlevania?
According to an off-the-cuff Reddit poll from 2021, Season 2 was rated the simplest with 43% of the votes. Season 4 was the second hottest, with seasons 1 and three just behind.
Season 2 saw our heroes checking out answers on the Belmont family estate, a set of all knowledge of the creatures of the night, evil, and therefore the means to destroy them. The season also saw arguments between Dracula’s underlings, with Godbrand (Peter Stormare) and Carmilla posing, and Dracula’s master blacksmith Isaac (Adetokumboh M`Cormack) and Hector (Theo James) questioning their loyalty.
With 100% ad spots on Rotten Tomatoes, it’s no wonder that the majority consider Season 2 to be Castlevania’s best, though not everyone within the Reddit poll agrees. “I wasn’t an enormous fan of season 2 or 3, or they were drawn to and as if they hadn’t benefited from the stories that season 1 had created, or they felt disconnected from previous seasons,” said Reddit user FlameGerbil, for instance. Others echoed that sentiment but also agreed that season 4 was an epic conclusion.
It’s pretty hard to contradict the evidence with a season on the brink of half the votes, and fortunately for us, we didn’t even need to go down the infinite corridor to seek out out which season fans liked the best!
Would we see more of Castlevania?
It’s entirely possible that the spinoff will include any number of stories from the Castlevania cast. The thought of following Vlad and Lisa around the world has yet to be investigated, but with the old antagonist abandoning his evil ways, the series would need to find a replacement villainous vampire to bite into. It is far more likely that the Castlevania division dates back to the first days and represents the life and times of the Belmont clan.
The primary season of Castlevania began when Trevor was the last of his name and therefore the monster hunters excluded the once-beloved family from society. The series largely documented the events of Castlevania III: Dracula’s Curse from the 1990s and Castlevania: Curse of Darkness from 2005, which suggests there’s plenty to try to do before and after.
Much like George Lucas’s Skywalker saga began with Episode IV and returned to the divisive prequels, the Castlevania spinoff could do an equivalent and convey Leon Belmont into the group. 2003’s Castlevania: Lament of Innocence is that the first story within the series in chronological order, set in 1094. Since both the Belmont and Dracula line have an origin story, Netflix would need to make a small adjustment next. Elsewhere, the extensive history and chronology of the games could put Simon Belmont into play.
The protagonist of OG from the Konami franchise saw Simon as a playable character within the first two games (before Trevor). Simon arrives much later within the genealogy than Trevor, with other important Belmonts like Christopher and Soleil in between. Basically, there are many Belmonts that have a story to inform.
