Loki Season 2: Possible Release Date & Confirmation By Marvel in 2022!

Loki season 2 is currently one of the only live-action Marvel series returns, with only What If…? having a confirmed second season. Aside from the fact that the God of Mischief will return for more small-screen antics, there isn’t much concrete information about what’s to come.

That is not to say there isn’t enough to keep us going in the meantime. Although Marvel prefers to keep things under wraps, the studio has confirmed who will be returning for round two (both in front of and behind the camera), provided updates on when filming may begin, and teased when the new episodes may potentially be released.

Loki Season 2

As for us, we’ve gathered clues and the most popular theories to try to figure out what’s next for Loki, Sylvie, and the gang. So, for all of that and more, keep scrolling to learn everything we know about Loki season 2 so far.

The Expected Plot of Loki Season 2

The plot of Loki season 2 is being kept under wraps. Following the announcement of season 2, Hiddleston initially stated that he was “excited about the possibilities” and that the team was in “deep, deep, deep discussions” – but the actor has kept a tight lip since.

Mbatha-Raw told Popculture.com that she is looking forward to her character going to “some deeper, darker places.” Ravonna Renslayer was introduced as an anti-hero and potential love interest for Mobius, but she was eventually revealed to be a villain who values her loyalty to the TVA above all else.

Ravonna went off on her own in search of free will in the season finale. “She’s determined to find out who pulled the wool over her eyes. That’s what she’ll go out looking for, “Michael Waldron, the head writer, commented.

“She’s a terrifying customer to have out there in the Multiverse. So we’ll have to wait and see what happens.”Sylvie, Loki’s variant and love interest, also sent Loki into another dimension so she could finally kill He Who Remains.

The slaying does not fulfil her as she expected, and she is left alone at the Citadel at the End of Time. While Sophia Di Martino told Radio Times that she doesn’t know if her character will return, she did say Sylvie’s final scene is “an interesting place to start another chapter”.

Hiddleston was recently asked if Loki will appear in the upcoming Marvel film Thor: Love and Thunder, and he was understandably coy. “I live in a question mark,” the actor admitted to Total Film.

“It’s all a mystery. I used to think I could predict these things, but I honestly have no idea. And I’m not even doing an Andrew Garfield impression!“When asked about Loki season 2, he said: “What else can I say? It continues to fascinate and challenge me.

The story does not end at the end of Season 1. That, I believe, is quite clear. Loki is almost as unstable, turbulent, passionate, and chaotic as he has ever been. And perhaps some of that requires resolution. There’s a lot to unpack.”

Cast and Crew of Loki Season 2

So far, the only confirmed Loki season 2 cast members are Tom Hiddleston, Owen Wilson, and Gugu Mbatha-Raw. Mbatha-Raw previously confirmed her return as Ravonna Lexus Renslayer in an interview with GMA.

Kate Herron, the show’s creator, announced her departure from the show, stating that she had no plans for a second season. “I’m really looking forward to watching it as a fan next season,” Herron told Deadline.

“I just think I’m proud of what we accomplished here, and I gave it my all.”The directors are Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead. They will “co-direct a majority of the episodes for season two,” according to Deadline.

The duo most recently directed two episodes of Moon Knight, a Marvel series starring Oscar Isaac as a superhero with a dissociative identity disorder. Michael Waldron and Eric Martin, who wrote the first season, are set to return.

Expected Release Date

Back in August 2021, Marvel’s Kevin Feige provided an update on the Loki season 2 release date, stating that the new season was “underway” and “being developed as we speak,” but he wasn’t sure whether filming would begin in 2022 or 2023.

Loki Season 2

Backstage reports that production will begin this summer, but there is no other confirmation. Soon after, Owen Wilson confirmed his return to the series as Mobius, stating that filming will begin “pretty soon.”

There is speculation that the new season will premiere after the release of Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania because the first season’s finale introduced Kang the Conqueror, and Kang is the main villain in Ant-Men 3, which is set to be released on July 28, 2023.
