On April 22, 2013, USA Network placed an order for five more scripts for potential episodes. On June 25, 2013, USA Network approved two more episodes from those five scripts, one of which would be chosen through an online poll.

During the 2013 San Diego Comic-Con, it was revealed that “Dream Therapy,” now known as “A Nightmare on State Street,” received more than half of the votes. The eighth season premiered on January 8, 2014.

How Did the Psych Series Finale End?

In the series finale of Psych, Shawn (James Roday) and Gus (Dulé Hill) made some major life decisions despite a nagging multiple murder mystery.

After the introduction of new head detective Betsy Brannigan earlier this season, it became clear that Psych was no longer needed by the Santa Barbara Police Department.

Although Shawn could see the writing on the wall and Gus had already moved on to his fancy new job with his fancy new work car and fancy new workplace kitchen, Shawn couldn’t bring himself to tell his best friend.

Instead of confronting his friend in person, Shawn takes the much more complicated route of filming video messages for Gus, as well as Lassiter, Woodrow, and his father, Henry.

“I’ve accepted that this is my fatal flaw. I just can’t seem to engage fully when I really need to, when it matters, when the chips are down “Shawn tells Gus in an emotional message that he will only leave for Gus after he has already left town.

Shawn assures Gus that he will be “more than fine” because Shawn has been denied the life he deserves.

Psych’s stars and creators bid farewell while leaving the door open for a possible sequel. Although the video message to Gus is lovely, by far the best message is to the oft-mentioned but never seen Dobson, who is revealed to be none other than Val Kilmer!

“We didn’t get to talk as much as I would have liked, but I learned more about you than anyone else. You come across as heroic. I could have worshipped him as a child, adolescent, and well into my twenties, “Shawn explains.

Shawn’s video message to Lassiter is also telling because he tries to be honest about his psychic abilities. But as he begins to say, “the truth is, I am not…” Lassiter pulls out the DVD and breaks it in half.

We’re losing TV shows this year. The video goodbye does not do Gus and Shawn’s friendship justice. Gus ends up abruptly leaving his job, then attempting to return, then actually leaving and arriving in San Francisco just in time to interrupt Shawn declaring his intention to begin his life with Juliet right away.

“I’m an adventurer now, with a friendship for the ages, and if that means living in another city, so be it,” Gus declares. Shawn, however, outperforms Gus’ declaration when he proposes to Juliet outside of a crime scene. “Will you marry us, Jules? Even though Gus will always be a part of the equation, it’s mostly me, “He inquires.

“Yes, Shawn Spencer, I will marry the crap out of you,” she responds. However, the proposal is cut short when a random thief runs by and snatches Shawn’s grandmother’s ring from his grasp.

As the show fades to black, Shawn, Gus, and Juliet jump into a car to pursue the perpetrator. “I wanted the show to end with the words: “This is not the end of it all.” These guys are still going out and having fun somewhere else.

It’s just that it’s not being broadcast on television right now “Last week, creator and executive producer Steve Franks discussed the finale with “For me, it was always about moving forward. I knew they’d be racing off on another case at the last minute.”

Why Did Juliet Leave Psych?

The reason given for Lucinda Barry’s departure after Psych’s pilot was her affair with Lassiter, which was obviously against department protocol. Because Shawn had revealed them, Anne Dudek’s Psych character had to be moved.

What Caused the Cancellation of Psych?

Psych initially aired on USA Network from 2006 to 2014 before being canceled in its eighth season. There was no clear reason why the USA never renewed Psych, but some speculated that it was due to declining viewership numbers for the final ten episodes.

Psych’s closest encounter with Monk occurred in the final minutes of the series finale when Shaun and Gus were at a crime scene in San Francisco, which had recently become their new home.
