“The Challenge” (formerly known as “Real World/Road Rules Challenge”) has captivated audiences with intense physical competition and interpersonal drama for an impressive 37 seasons, beginning in 1998.
According to GQ, all-stars from “The Challenge” and other reality television shows such as “Big Brother,” “Survivor,” and “Amazing Race” have appeared on the MTV show over the course of its 37 seasons.
According to E! Online, each season of the show has a unique theme, such as “Rivals” or “Battle of the Exes,” that helps viewers distinguish one season from the next. Each series is shot in a unique location, such as Iceland.
According to GQ, the combination of these intriguing locations, intense physical challenges (in one season, the contestants had to dive deep into the icy waters of Iceland to retrieve puzzle pieces with only a limited supply of oxygen), and captivating cast members results in one of the most beloved reality television shows of all time.
“You push yourself past the limit because you have to,” “The Challenge” host TJ Lavin told GQ earlier this year. “That was the direction we were attempting to take. It’s all well and good to have a show full of drama.
There is a place for that, but competition shows are the place to be right now.” Continue reading to learn more about the upcoming 38th season of “The Challenge.”
Who Is in the Challenge Season 38’s Cast?
Insofar as the term “cast” can be applied to a reality competition show, one person is almost certain to return for Season 38. TJ Lavin, the legendary BMX pro and long-time “The Challenge” presenter, is, of course, that person, whose calm and assured presence has anchored the show during even its most absurd moments.
According to GQ, Lavin’s background in extreme sports and no-nonsense approach to hosting make him a believable presence for both viewers and contestants.”People can see right through a guy who isn’t using his real voice,” Lavin said of his hosting style. “I’m the same person.
I did not alter any slang. I won’t say anything in the script that I wouldn’t say in real life.” The people around Lavin, however, are anyone’s guess, at least until the list of competitors is announced.
Because of the nature of the show, each season of “The Challenge” features a different group of contestants, and while you can probably expect to see a few familiar faces from other reality shows, you’ll still have to wait for the exact cast to be announced.
It is worth noting, however, that the show recently dropped a major hint about one potential contestant: On January 31, the cover photo of the official “The Challenge” Twitter and Facebook accounts was changed to a poster featuring a veteran contestant and multiple-season finalist Nany González.
CT Tamburello, the reigning champion, has also made some interesting comments to Entertainment Weekly, stating that he needs a break… but also hinting at a potential future rematch with fellow contestant Johnny Bananas.
Where Will the Challenge Season 38 Take Place?
That is an excellent question! The various, invariably interesting, and often exotic locations in which the show’s challenges take place are a major draw. The show’s location game has been quite consistent over the years, with Thailand being the only somewhat recurring country in the last 20 seasons or so.
Because of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, Season 35 took place in the Czech Republic and Austria, while Seasons 36 and 37 took the game to Iceland and Croatia, respectively. Knowing this, it’s probably safe to assume that the show will stay European in Season 38 as well.
However, “The Challenge” has rarely stayed on the same continent for too many seasons in a row, and the competition hasn’t been held in the United States since Season 9, so who knows? Perhaps a homecoming is in the works.
When Will the Challenge’s 38th Season Premiere?
Because the 37th season of “The Challenge,” titled “Spies, Lies, and Allies,” is still airing on MTV, the show’s creators have yet to announce the fate of the reality show’s 38th season, according to Entertainment Weekly.
Despite the fact that MTV has yet to announce anything about the 38th season of the show, rumours about the upcoming season have been circulating. A Reddit user revealed a few months ago that “The Challenge” spoiler guru PinkRose revealed that filming for the 38th season of the show had been delayed.
The Reddit user also speculated that the third season of “The Challenge” Paramount+ spinoff “The Challenge: All-Stars” would begin filming soon. “In addition, the Paramount spinoff was billed as ‘Legends’ or ‘All-Stars.
But from different Paramount networks,” the Reddit user explained. “So, I’m thinking notable older alumni from ‘Big Brother,’ ‘Survivor,’ ‘Amazing Race,’ and the like, as well as ‘The Challenge’ standouts.”
