It is no secret that Law & Order has spawned seven great spin-offs, but none of them can match the initial success of Law & Order: Special Victims Unit. The popularity of SVU has grown to the point where it has overtaken the number of seasons of its predecessor.
As of Season 23, the 1999 NBC premiere is still the longest-running primetime series in history, and it’s for good cause.
It follows the NYPD’s “elite team known as the Special Victims Unit” as they pursue sexually-based crimes to stop criminal acts in their tracks in Law & Order: SVU. When it comes to the SVU characters, fans eagerly await the next obstacle to be overcome.
The series has changed greatly over the course of its 23 seasons, led by a standout performance by Mariska Hargitay as Captain Olivia Benson. Law & Order: Organized Crime, a follow-up series to SVU detective Elliot Stabler, was inspired by the spinoff.
The Law & Order franchise was a huge success, thanks in part to Law & Order: SVU’s gripping storylines, but Dick Wolf, the show’s creator, has since moved on to other projects including his One Chicago series.
There is good news for Law & Order fans: SVU returning for Season 24.
Who Will Be in the Cast of SVU Season 24?
Captain Olivia Benson is in charge of the SVU unit (portrayed by Mariska Hargitay –Twitter). Sgt. Tutuola (Ice-T), Detective Rollins (Kelli Giddish), and freshly acquired Detective Joe Velasco round up the rest of the crew (Octavio Pisano.)
Before Chief Tommy McGrath put an end to it, Deputy Chief Christian Garland (portrayed by Demore Barnes) had been in charge of the task force.
It is expected that the season 23 cast will return for the next season with a few new faces.
Benson’s car accident, social media star humiliation, and their most heinous case were just some of the wild cases the SVU team dealt with.
They also saw privileged kids, rich tech giants with power complexes, sex trafficking, ties to September 11th, and Burton Lowe returning to Benson’s life in an attempt to make up for his past actions.
What Can We Expect From SVU Season 24?
Season 24 of Law & Order: Special Victims Unit promises more of the same. They’re caught by Benson and SVU and cooked by Carisi!
For victims of sexual assault, Benson’s compassion will continue to grow. It’s possible she’ll climb the corporate ladder even further. We’ve seen her run across her former partner, Detective Elliot Stabler (Christopher Meloni), in the course of the story.
While some viewers would like to see them get together, the plotlines may prevent that from happening. Since Stabler ghosted Benson for extensive undercover work, the two have resumed communication (and collaboration).
