Until he met Rachel, Bam has no recollection of his life prior to her. Bam, on the other hand, instantly tries to follow Rachel up the tower, ignoring her pleas. After failing to find Rachel on the lower floors of the tower, he makes new acquaintances.

This alliance includes Kuhn (voiced by Chris Hackney in English and Japanese and Nobuhiko Okamoto in Japanese), a cunning and devious blue-haired child, Rak (voiced by Matthew David Rudd for the English dub and Kenta Miyake in Japanese), an alligator-like creature, and several other intriguing characters. It is agreed that they will form an alliance and attempt to scale the titular tower.

When Bam eventually locates Rachel among the other test-takers, things begin to improve. In spite of Rachel’s pleading, Bam is steadfast in his commitment to her. A stab wound during a test leaves Rachel unable to move, so Bam offers to carry her to the top of the tower. She accepts.

Taking Rachel, who is wheelchair-bound, with Bam and his comrades will be the most difficult challenge of their lives. After the test, it was discovered that the group had been divided by the ploy, allowing the tower to dispose of anyone they deemed a threat. Just when triumph is finally within reach, Rachel jumps up from her wheelchair and pushes Bam to his presumed death.

The season finishes with Bam’s heartbroken friends, blind to Rachel’s betrayal, agreeing to accompany her to the top of the tower since that was what Bam would have wanted. The image to the right shows Bam preparing to take on the tower by himself.
