During Walt Disney Studios’ presentation at CinemaCon 2022, a 3D teaser trailer for the movie was shown. The trailer went public on May 6, 2022, the same day that Marvel Studios’ Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness came out. On May 9th, it was put online.

Along with the title, we got the first official synopsis of the sequel, but it didn’t tell us anything we didn’t already know: “Jake Sully lives on the planet Pandora with the new family that he met there.

When an old enemy comes back to finish what he started before, Jake must work with Neytiri and the Na’vi army to protect their planet “as it says. The story takes place about 14 years after the events of Avatar.

Sully is now chief and Neytiri is the high priestess of their clan, but the story will mostly be about their family and children. Producer Jon Landau said, “I think the story of Avatar 2 and its strength comes from what Jim Cameron always does in all of his movies: he writes about universal themes that are bigger than any one genre.

“And if you think about it, family is really the only thing that everyone can relate to. The Sully family is at the centre of each of our sequels. How do parents make decisions to keep their family safe?” We also know that even though there will be three more movies after this one, each will have its own story.

According to Landau, “the journey through all four movies will create a connected saga.”The RDA mining operation will return to Pandora, which will force Jake to bring his family to the reef, where they meet the Metkayina, which they think is a safe place.

We’ve heard that they’ll also go beyond Pandora’s forests and into underwater and volcanic places that Cameron says will make you “spit yourself with your mouth wide open.” We think that should be a good thing…The motion-capture scenes for Avatar 2 were shot underwater to show how important water is.

We also know that Baby Driver actor CJ Jones, who is deaf, was hired to make a “new Na’vi sign language” for the movie. Cameron says that the movies will look so advanced that you “just won’t be able to imagine” what they will look like.

We hope that the look will be enough to get fans to go see the second movie.”Big, pricey movies have to bring in a lot of money. After COVID and streaming, we live in a new world. Maybe we’ll never see those [box office] numbers again. Who can say? It’s all just a big game of chance, “Cameron was let into EW.

All of the main actors from the first Avatar are under contract, so Cameron’s stars will be back when the sequel comes out. Zoe Saldaa will be back as the Navi princess Neytiri, and Sam Worthington will be back as Jake Sully, a human who became a Navi.

Colonel Miles Quaritch, who died, is back as played by Stephen Lang. He will be the main bad guy in all four movies. He said that in the next book, he will be able to “really go to town and look at the character in detail” (via The National).

James Cameron said, “I’m not going to say exactly how we’re bringing him back, but it is a science fiction story, after all.”The actor isn’t saying much about his sudden comeback, but he has said that the sequel will be worth the long wait. “I think fans will be mesmerised and interested.

Look, there are going to be people who love this world “he said to EW. Sigourney Weaver, who is known as the “goddess of science fiction,” will also be back as a completely new character. She said, “I’ve read all four of the Avatar scripts, and I think they’re amazing and worth the wait.

Kate Winslet plays Ronal in all of the Avatar sequels. This is the first time that she and James Cameron have worked together since the 1997 blockbuster Titanic. Mo’at, Neytiri’s mother, will also be played by CCH Pounder again. Matt Gerald will return as Corporal Lyle Wainfleet, and Edie Falco (The Sopranos, Nurse Jackie) will play the new character General Ardmore.

Release Date

To make a long story short, Avatar 2 will expected on December 16, 2022. It was supposed to come out in December 2021, but the global health crisis pushed it back. The filming for the sequel started in 2017, which isn’t too surprising since the movie is a mix of live-action and motion capture.

Cameron said in September 2020 that Avatar 2 was “100 per cent done” and that Avatar 3 was about 95 per cent done. As was said above, Cameron said in April 2022 that he is “putting the finishing touches” on the sequel, so everything seems to be on track for the December release finally.

Since Cameron has three more movies coming out, he has been working on all of them over the past few years. Due to the young cast, he said in December 2021 that he had already filmed some of Avatar 4.

“Anything that had to be done with a certain actor, we did all the scenes for 2 and 3 together, and a little bit of 4,” he told Variety.

“I had to shoot them out of the house. In the middle of the story, on page 25 of movie 4, they are allowed to age six years. So I needed everything that happened before then, and we’ll do everything that happened after that later.”

Avatar 2: Why Has It Taken So Long?

Here’s the full story of how the sequel took a long time to get to the big screen. When I think about it now, it almost seems silly that Avatar 2 was supposed to come out in December 2014 and Avatar 3 was supposed to come out in December 2015.

After some delays, filming for Avatar 2 was supposed to start in April 2016. However, April came and went, and filming never started. In January of the next year, it was said that the motion-capture part of the movie would begin in August, but it didn’t start until September.

The news of a fourth Avatar movie pushed everything back, and then everything was pushed back again. Avatar 2 is now set to come out in December 2017. (and the rest are set for 2018 and 2019 presumably). James Cameron said that the delays were because the writing process was “very involved.”
