Atlanta Season 4 Release Date: Is Atlanta Coming Back for Season 4?

Atlanta is a Donald Glover-created American comedy-drama television series that aired on FX on September 6, 2016.

The sitcom follows Earnest “Earn” Marks (Glover), a college dropout and music manager, and rapper Paper Boi (Brian Tyree Henry) as they negotiate a weird, apparently otherworldly version of Atlanta’s rap culture. Lakeith Stanfield and Zazie Beetz also appear in the film.

Atlanta has received critical acclaim and a slew of awards and nominations, including two Golden Globes for Best Television Series – Musical or Comedy and Best Actor – Television Series Musical or Comedy for Glover, as well as two Primetime Emmys for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series and Outstanding Directing for a Comedy Series.

Atlanta Season 4

Glover’s Emmy for Outstanding Directing for a Comedy Series was the first ever given to an African-American, and his work as the show’s writer and executive producer has been lauded. The show has been picked up for a third and fourth season.

The third season debuted on March 24, 2022, and the fourth and final season is slated to debut in the fall of 2022.

The Atlanta Season 4 Plot

Season 4 will pick up where Season 3 leaves off, but executive producer Stefani Robinson spoke briefly about the show’s progression during TCA. “The seasons reflect where we are in life to a tee, and you can follow that to a tee, very carefully,” she remarked.

“I feel like we didn’t really know what we were doing in the first season.” In Season 2, we experienced a surprising amount of success at the same time as the characters. Even in Season 3, there is a lot more maturity and approach to how the characters are dealing with what’s going on.”

Glover went on to say that for Season 4, the crew completed the cycle. “[The plan] was to have more fun.” After that cycle, you realise, “Oh, we did Season 4 like Season 1, which was, act like you’re going to be cancelled!”

There are, however, significant stakes: Glover declared on Twitter in 2020 that Atlanta’s last two seasons will be “some of the best television ever filmed.”
