Divorce
Kelly Clarkson has finally taken divorce from Brandon Blackstock according to US Magazine. She hinted that she will finally be releasing new music after her nasty divorce.
“Everyone knows about my big divorce, and it’s been, like, two years, and it hasn’t been easy with kids,” the singer of “Stronger (What Doesn’t Kill You)” said Wednesday on Apple Music’s “The Global Chart Show with Brooke Reese.”
Clarkson, who is 40 years old, talked about how her divorce affected her career when she was asked when fans could expect her next album.
“I’m just figuring out what I’m okay with letting go of,” she said. “So, it’s just hard to figure out. It’s on the way. I just need to get my stuff in order. I just have to decide what I’m going to let go of. I’ve never had a project this hard before.”
The former “American Idol” contestant hasn’t put out any music that wasn’t for the holidays since 2017. She filed for divorce from Blackstock, 45, in June 2020, after they had been married for almost seven years. The divorce was finalized earlier this year.
Last year, the singer put out a Christmas album, but she hasn’t put out a regular album since 2017.
Clarkson’s Legal Name
Clarkson’s legal name is now Kelly Brianne. “I just got divorced, so I had to stop using my married last name,” she told “People (the TV Show!)” in March.
River, 8, and Remington, 6, are Clarkson and Blackstock’s two children together. He has two teenagers from a previous relationship.
“I just kept my middle name for personal reasons.” She said, “I’m still Kelly Clarkson.”

The singer of “Since U Been Gone” got primary custody of their two kids, a daughter named River who is 8, and a son named Remington who is 6. Blackstock, who lives in Montana and has two teenagers from a previous marriage, will have the kids one weekend a month.
Clarkson also won the Montana ranch that the couple used to own together, but he didn’t make Blackstock move out right away. He paid her $12,500 a month in rent while he lived there.
The host of the talk show joked that in December 2021, she would be “single forever.”
