Harrison and Mary Marquardt, who was born in 1945, got married on June 18, 1964. They met at Ripon College in Ripon, Wisconsin, which is a liberal arts college. Mary got a degree in Culinary Arts and worked in the food business while Harrison got ahead in Hollywood. On September 22, 1966, Benjamin was born.

He was the couple’s first child. Willard was born on May 14, 1969. He was their second child. Benjamin went on to become a famous chef and restaurant owner in Los Angeles, just like his mother. Decades later, Harrison’s co-star in Star Wars, Carrie Fisher, said she and Harrison had an affair while filming the sci-fi blockbuster while he was still married to Mary. This brought the divorce back into the public eye.

Carrie wrote about the three-month tryst in her 2016 book, The Princess Diarist. She says it happened when she was 19 and Harrison was 33 when they were both in their 20s. “I was so young, but something about him made me trust him,” she said. “He was kind.”

And when the book came out, Carrie said in an interview with People, “It was so intense. During the week, it was Han and Leia, and on the weekends, it was Carrie and Harrison.”

Melissa Mathison

Melissa Mathison was born in Los Angeles on June 3, 1950. She is well-known in Hollywood for writing the screenplays for The Black Stallion (1979) and E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial (1982), which earned her a nomination for Best Original Screenplay for the latter film.

As Francis Ford Coppola’s friend, Melissa often went to the set of Apocalypse Now, where she met Harrison, according to ABC. In 1983, they decided to make their relationship official by getting married. They had a son named Malcolm in 1987, and then a daughter named Georgia three years later.

They tried living apart for a while in 2000 before filing for divorce in 2004, but it was said that they were still on good terms. A representative for Harrison told ABC at the time that the couple is very friendly and that everything is going well. Melissa died of cancer in 2015, when she was 65 years old.
