Baymax’s Storyline

Baymax is back to help people and save the world, one patient at a time. In the Big Hero 6 spinoff series Baymax!, which premieres June 29 on Disney+, Scott Adsit plays the huggable medical assistant again.

Baymax! is the first animated series ever made by Walt Disney Animation Studios. It is a continuation of the movie Big Hero 6, which was based on a Marvel comic book. In each episode of the Disney+ Original series, the healthcare bot/superhero goes back to the fantastic city of San Fransokyo and uses his new abilities to help people in need.

When announcing Baymax! at Disney’s Investor Day 2020, the Oscar-winning director of Big Hero 6, Don Hall, said, “We actually get to explore more of San Fransokyo, this huge, wonderful, rich canvas.” “The show focuses a lot on Baymax’s original plan, which was to be a nurse robot,”

“Every episode, we meet a new character: a patient that Baymax is going to help,” Hall said, calling the inflatable robot “a hero for the times” because of his “single-minded dedication to just helping people.”

As a step up from Big Hero 6, Hall said that Baymax will get a portable suit of armor that will make it easy for him to move quickly through the streets of San Fransokyo looking for patients.

Baymax came back before in Big Hero 6: The Series, a hand-drawn sequel to the movie that ran for three seasons on DisneyXD and was made by Disney Television Animation. In 2014’s Big Hero 6, Baymax was introduced as the robot made by Hiro Hamada’s late older brother, Tadashi (Daniel Henney) (Ryan Potter).

The movie that won the Academy Award for Best Animated Film included Baymax and Hiro as part of the techy superhero team Big Hero 6. The other members of the team were San Francisco Institute of Technology students Go Go (Jamie Chung), Wasabi (Damon Wayans Jr.), Fred (T.J. Miller), and Honey Lemon (Genesis Rodriguez).
