At the beginning of July 2016, Harry and Markle went on a blind date and got to know one another. First sit-down interview after engagement announcement: “We were actually connected by a common acquaintance,” Harry confessed.

The two were introduced by a friend of Harry’s, Violet von Westenholz, according to E! News, although other sources say it was Mischa Nonoo, the fashion designer.

Despite Prince Harry’s worldwide notoriety, Markle says she had no preconceptions about him prior to meeting him. In the BBC interview, she claimed that she didn’t have the same grasp of the royal family as someone from the United States.

“Our common acquaintance had tried to hook us up, and the only question that had crossed my mind was whether or not he was a nice guy. Due to the fact that it just didn’t make sense if he wasn’t kind”

They had great chemistry from the get-go. “I remember very quickly into that we asked, ‘Well, what are we doing tomorrow?'” Markle added. ‘It would be nice to see you again.'”

At a Kensington Palace garden picture op following their engagement announcement, Prince Harry was questioned about the moment he realized Meghan Markle was the right person for him. A snappy response was given: “the first time we met.”

From that point on, everything proceeded swiftly. After a second date, Prince Harry invited Meghan Markle to join him on a three- or four-week tour to Africa.

According to him, they “camped out under the stars” in Botswana after he convinced her to come along. Once we were all alone, I felt like we had a much better chance of getting to know one another.

It’s been “nightly legal fights” for Harry to stop the media from releasing tales about Meghan Markle and their relationship, he says.

In an interview with the BBC, Harry admitted that the media attention had surprised both he and Markle. It was a complete shock to both of us, to put it mildly.

Many people thought that Markle would be well-prepared for the attention she would receive because of her fame as an actress, but nothing could have prepared her for the magnitude of the attention she would receive.

For a long time, people thought that because she had worked in the entertainment world, she would be familiar with this type of situation. “Tabloid culture is something I’ve never experienced, however. When it comes to pop culture, I’ve never been as involved as I am now.”

To tune out the cacophony, was her response, as she explained to the BBC. “To be honest, I think we were just bombarded with so many lies at the beginning that I chose to ignore everything, good or bad. It didn’t make sense, so we concentrated all of our efforts on enhancing our relationship instead.”

On November 18, she posted a Mahatma Gandhi quote to Instagram in reaction to Harry’s statement about their relationship, which many took to mean she was responding to it.
